According to industry sources, Mr MA Baskarachar deputy chairman of Kandla Port Trust is to take over as the chairman of Ennore Port Ltd.
The present chairman Mr S Velumani demits office after 6 years in office.
When Mr Velumani assumed charge as chairman cum MD on July 30th 2006, the port's capacity was 15 million tonnes a year. It is now 30 million tonne a year.
During 2005-06, the port handled 9.168 million tonnes of cargo. The port's income was INR 97.81 crore and the profit before tax was INR 9.32 crore.
According to data from the port, during the last financial year, the port handled 14.96 million tonnes. It registered highest income of INR 250.26 core and a profit before tax as INR 120.78 crore last fiscal.
